Low Sugar Smoothies

Smoothie recipes often contain large amounts of sugar, and even if it's natural fruit sugars, when blended in particular, they spike the blood sugar too high for my recommendations. I prefer low sugar smoothies either made with moderate amounts of fruits or using, protein powder or vegetables instead of fruit along with fiber and fats, herbs and spices. Here are a few ideas >

Low sugar smoothie recipes

Piña Colada

  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1/2 cup full fat coconut milk
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger , approx 1 teaspoon minced or chopped
  • tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint
  • 1/2 dropperful chlorophyll (optional)
  • squeeze of fresh lime juice (optional)

Carrot-Orange

  • 1-1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1/3 cup grated carrot
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean powder
  • 1 scoop collagen powder
  • 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower
  • 1 small piece fresh turmeric or 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional)

Berry-Greens

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • small handful of spinach
  • small handful cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon chlorella powder
  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1/2 cup grated zucchini (optional)

Instructions: For each recipe, add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy. Adjust liquid amount as needed.
