In my last course with Dr. Lad at the Institute of Ayurveda in NM, his assistant Nomi-ji showed us how to make Nut-Date Bites. I was familiar with the basic recipe, but then she added different Ayurvedic Herbs.
I can’t locate her recipe, so I created my own. These are specifically nourishing for females
NUT-DATE BITES “Medicine Balls” Recipe
I N G R E D I E N T S :
- 1 cup Walnuts
- 3/4 cup Dates (Medjool), pitted
- 2 tablespoons Shatavari Powder (tuberous root, female tonic, can be ordered online)
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon Ginger Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
- pinch Cayenne and Himalayan Pink Salt or another full-spectrum salt
Directions
1. In a food processor, pulse to finely grind walnuts, add powdered herbs and spices, pulse a few times to combine.
2. Add dates, and pulse until a sticky mass forms
3. Remove lid, and with a tablespoon scoop out some of the mass and roll by hand into bite-sized balls
Note: Eat max 3 per day, store the rest in the fridge. A great alternative to sugar-laden chocolate and other processed sweets.
